A day out in Nottingham

Nottingham train station is situated south of the city centre. The City Ground is about a twenty minute walk or if you fancy doing a bit of shopping, the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre is literally a stones throw from the station.

The Broadmarsh Shopping Centre has a number of shops including Allders, Boots and Argos and there are plenty of shops on the way up to the Market Square (city centre) including HMV, Marks and Spencer and a McDonalds.

Nottingham also has The Victoria Shopping Centre which is about a fifteen minute walk from the station and a five minute walk from the Market Square. The Victoria Centre has plenty for everyone including shops like Envy, John Lewis, House of Fraser, Next and Topshop.

As an away fan the first question is usually: "where can I grab a beer and some food?"

The best place to go in relation to Nottingham train station is probably Hooters. Hooters can be found directly behind the station and is situated on London Road. (London Road runs along past Meadow Lane and straight onto Trent Bridge where the City Ground can be found)

You will usually find both sets of fans in Hooters and a police presence is often on hand as precaution. If you want fast food instead of a sit-down meal then it's best to take a stroll towards the City Ground and find Radcliffe Road.

The Trent Bridge Inn and Ladbrokes form the corners of Radcliffe Road and if you head towards Trent Bridge, the home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, then you can't really miss it.

There are two chip shops on Radcliffe Road in the form of The Pantry and Bridgford Chip Bar and there is also a McDonalds at the bottom.

The pubs to avoid if you are an away fan would probably be The Waterfront (opposite the train station), The Globe (London Road), Southbank Bar, Hubble and The Trent Bridge Inn. The best places to go are probably Hooters, Casa (Trent Bridge) or The Larwood and Voce (situated behind Trent Bridge Cricket Ground - along the road opposite Bridgford Chip Bar)

The Larwood and Voce caters for both sets of fans. The right hand side bar is for away supporters and the left hand side is for Nottingham Forest fans. Food is also served on matchdays.

If you are looking to taste some of Nottingham's nightlife after the game but need a place to stay, there is a Travel Inn situated next door to Hooters and there are a couple of B+Bs on Radcliffe Road including The Gallery Hotel opposite McDonalds.
