The game marks a return to the ground where Dougie Freedman took charge of the Reds for the first time, guiding Forest to a 3-2 win against the Seagulls in February.
"I am really, really enjoying working with the players we have and I so proud to be the Forest manager," he said at the time.
Freedman will return to Sussex having had a full summer to work with his players and get his methods across to them.
With the Reds restricted in the transfer market it will be his ability to get even more out of the existing squad that will determine the success or otherwise of the campaign.
