The 57-year-old, who said he'd drink a bucket of Guinness in the centre circle if he keeps Forest up, has one remaining loan space at the club following the arrivals of Alan Rogers and Andy Impey together with Michael Chopra.

He told BBC Sport: "Now I've seen the players in a game I know a little bit more about them.

"Now I know we need a ball winner in midfield,"

He has been linked with a move for out-of-favour Leeds midfielder David Batty who is currently training with the Youth team at Elland Road.

Forest Chairman Nigel Doughty has already revealed he will fund one more loan signing but won't be able to afford the full wages of the former Blackburn hardman.
