The left-back damaged ligaments in a league fixture against Doncaster Rovers on Boxing Day 2008.

But the 25-year-old will play in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Coventry City at the City Ground on Tuesday afternoon.

Bennett joined the Reds from Walsall in January 2006.

He has started 99 games for the club and was the first-choice left-back at the time of the injury.

Forest have struggled to cope in Bennett's absence with Joel Lynch, Chris Cohen, James Perch and loan signing Nicky Shorey all used in that position this season.
