Blues boss desperate for improvement

The pre-season promotion favourites have laboured in recent weeks with their expensively assembled forward line struggling to find the target, leaving McLeish under pressure from an expectant St Andrew's crowd.

Another home fixture beckons against the Reds and McLeish will want a better display than that dished up against Burnley last Saturday.

Speaking after the game he questioned: "Why didn't the players turn up for the first half?

"We began very slowly and appeared to be in a trance. Burnley, to their credit, got out of the blocks very quickly.

"Despite our organisation, work and training we looked extremely vulnerable and it was almost as if they were saying to Burnley 'hurry up and score'."
