In a repeat of last season's League Cup opener which they won 3-0, the Reds will face Bradford City but this time around at City's Valley Parade home.
"I’m sure it will be a totally different game at our place," said Bantams midfielder Michael Flynn, quoted in the Telegraph & Argus.
"It’s a match that will definitely whet the crowd’s appetite and if we are going to play a big team, then you’d always rather it be at home."
A glamorous pre-season friendly has been announced meanwhile which will see Forest play host to perennial French champions Lyon on July 28.
"It is a real coup to attract one of Europe's top clubs," operations manager Brandon Furse told the club's official website.
"I am sure it will create a lot of interest among our supporters and in the city generally."
