A transfer window at the City Ground that made headlines for the wrong reasons was capped when Boyd's move from Peterborough was scrapped at the 11th hour, the reason given that the 27-year-old had failed an eye test.

Hull moved quickly to snap up the player and Boyd has made an instant impact in a side currently sitting in the second automatic promotion place.

"For the amount of money we paid for him, he has arguably been the best couple of hundred grand I have ever spent, and I have only worked with him two weeks," manager Steve Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail.

Forest, of course, have moved on rapidly from the events of January with the manager who wanted to sign Boyd having been replaced by Billy Davies and the Scot engineering an immediate upturn in fortunes prior to Saturday's meeting with Boyd's new club.
