"It was a good advert for League One football," said Ward after Carlisle defeated another promotion chasing side, Doncaster Rovers, on Saturday.
"Both teams tried to play football the right way although it was difficult in the conditions.
"We had a game plan and the team's discipline was great. All the players stuck to their jobs. We defended fantastically and the lads could not have given any more effort."
