"We would have liked the three points but sometimes it is not possible and the most important consideration then is not to lose it," he said.

"We had the lion's share of possession and it wasn't for the lack of effort that we didn't win the game.

"It was a battle of wits as Doncaster are a quality team and the last thing we wanted was for them to pinch it."
