After parting company with Mark Robins after a heavy opening day defeat against Bournemouth, Huddersfield have settled on former Charlton Athletic boss Chris Powell as his successor.

Chairman Dean Hoyle told his club's official website: "Make no mistake - throughout the football industry, Chris is held in extremely high regard. This is an excellent fit with the club and how we operate."

Powell's new side host Nottingham Forest on Saturday 1 November.

Despite guiding his team to second place in the table, one point behind the Reds, heading into the international break, Beppe Sannino resigned as Watford head coach and has been replaced by former Brighton & Hove Albion supremo Oscar Garcia.

Sannino has been linked with the vacant Leeds United job after the quickfire departure of Dave Hockaday who lasted only six matches at Elland Road following his surprise summer appointment.
