Championship: Ferguson out at Posh

Although they are currently bottom of the table, Ferguson had previously guided Peterborough through two divisions in successive seasons and into the second tier of English football.

The Scot signed a new contract in the summer after interest from Reading but poor results this season, including a 2-1 home defeat by Nottingham Forest at the start of October have led to his departure.

The Reds meanwhile are trialling a new scheme whereby fans of both Forest and Doncaster Rovers can buy family stand tickets for the City Ground game on 29 November.

Safety officer Alan Bexon said: "It's something we have been considering for some time.

"We sincerely hope the idea will catch on and lead to us eventually getting back to a situation where there is no need to segregate fans.

"Football has evolved since the days when hooliganism was at a peak and we believe the initiative could be a step in a very positive direction."
