The 20-year-old, who is out-of-contract and originates from Nottinghamshire, has a good reputation and seems to be stalling on a new three-year offer at the Britannia Stadium.

Stoke City director of football John Rudge said: "We rate him very highly, but when a player is out of contract, all you can do is wait and see if they will stay."

Forest would have to pay a tribunal fee for the youngster should he decide to come to the City Ground because he is under the age of 23.

He would arrive as competition for Alan Rogers at left-back and Andy Reid on the left-side of midfield.
