Evans joined the Reds from Bradford in March 2004 and has been a first-team regular for much of the time since then but does not look like being in Megson's long-term plans and with his contract expiring at the end of the season will be allowed to leave.
Megson admitted yesterday he is keen to trim down his squad, saying: "You are never happy with the players you have, you are always looking to improve your side.
"But you get to a point where you have too many players and we are at that stage."
