The Reds are nine points adrift of second-placed West Brom ahead of the trip to leaders Newcastle on Monday night.

Davies' side have seven games remaining - one more than Albion - and the Scot insists there is still time for them to overhaul the deficit and secure a top-two finish.

"I have said before that the last five or six games would be very interesting and I still believe that," said Davies.

"We know that things can happen. We have to win as many games as possible and keep the pressure on."
