Forest boss unhappy at Cardiff deal

The player's union have stepped in to assist Cardiff with payment of wages after the Welsh side's much-publicised financial troubles but have been criticised for their move by Gillingham chairman Paul Scally and now by Megson.

Original predictions of a large-scale sale of players at Ninian Park did not materialise and Lennie Lawrence was even able to sign Neal Ardley and Michael Boulding on transfer deadline day.

Megson said: "We can all sign players we can't afford, but with Cardiff, the chickens have come home to roost and somebody has helped them out.

"The PFA are now in an invidious position because in helping out financially, they have helped out Cardiff on the pitch.

"The fact that Cardiff signed two players and then 24 hours later, turned around and said they could not afford to pay wages is difficult to take. It really sticks in the craw.

"Nobody wants any clubs to be in administration. But at Forest, we had big problems a few years ago and had to sell Jermaine Jenas to stay afloat.

"We also had to sell David Prutton, Marlon Harewood and recently, Andy Reid and Michael Dawson to stay financially stable."
