Forest will travel to Vale Park in the week beginning Monday 11 August.
The Reds were knocked out in the second round last year after losing 2-1 against Walsall at The City Ground with David Johnson netting for Forest.
Nottingham Forest's league fixture against Coventry City has been re-arranged from Monday 25 August to Wednesday 27 August. Kick-off will be at 7.45pm.
