Forest odds on to avoid the drop

They are quoting odds of 2/5 to stay up in the English First Division and 7/4 to be relegated to Division Two.

William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe said: "Big Fat Joe, as he was affectionately known at Luton, where very few of the fans were happy about him leaving last summer, has all the motivational skills necessary to produce the goods at a club like Forest."

However, not everybody agrees on the appointment. Many fans wanted a 'Forest man' in charge such as Stuart Pearce or Nigel Clough with some wanting a so-called 'big name' such as Glenn Hoddle.

Former Forest striker Garry Birtles believes The Reds already had the right man for the job.

He said: "I don't really see how anyone coming in can do a better job or achieve more than Paul Hart would have done under the same circumstances."

With 17 games to go, only time will tell if Nigel Doughty and the board made the right decision.
