One of the most unexpected managerial rumours of the season has surfaced in recent days after bookmakers reported a welter of money being placed on Billy Davies returning to Deepdale following the sacking of Darren Ferguson.
Chairman Maurice Lindsay insists that the Scot has not been considered however and commented: “Anyone putting false money on Billy has made a mistake.
“Billy has not applied for the job but all applicants that are now shortlisted are well known and have considerable experience. No decision has been made and no approaches made to anyone.”
