Fringe players key to Forest - Boss

The Reds are heading into their most important - and demanding - part of the season with five matches in 17 days, culminating in a showdown with leaders Newcastle at St James' Park at the end of the month.

Davies insists every member of his squad will have a role to play in the coming weeks, with the likes of Dele Adebola, Luke Chambers, Joe Garner, Garath McCleary, David McGoldrick, Lewis McGugan and Nathan Tyson all set to become integral figures during the final 11 games.

"This is a period in the season I have always feared. I know, physically, what the demands of the Championship are. I know, physically, what the demands are on these players. I know the situation we will face with injury and suspension," said Davies.

"The fringe players will have an important role to play. I am saying to these fringe players that, because of their freshness, they will become huge players for us. We have got to give the backing to our unsung heroes.

"Paul Peschisolido never played in any of the games in the run in at Derby but, when we got to Wembley for the play-off final, he was our most important player. His calm head, his experience and communication were vital. I started him at Wembley."
