The 25-year-old, who was snapped up by Alan Pardew for £500,000 last November, had been linked with a move back to the City Ground after finding life difficult on the right-hand side of midfield.

He told West Ham's official website: "It is fantastic at West Ham, like a big family, and that can't be ruined; I am very disappointed with the story because it is so not true.

"I am looking to go up automatically with West Ham next year - and I am not thinking about leaving at all."

Harewood was a fan's favourite on Trentside but didn't get the best reception on his return to the City Ground after scoring West Ham's first goal.
