Forest's top scorer is one of three players who have gone down with the bug - defender Chris Doig and substitute goalkeeper Barry Roche are also ill.
"The three of them said they felt like they had flu so we got them out of the way," Hart told the Nottingham Evening Post.
"They were suffering and you don't want this sort of thing to spread, even though it seemed to be in the early stages."
