Kinnear set for Kennedy swoop

The 27-year-old, who played under Forest boss Joe Kinnear during his Wimbledon days, is a naturally left-sided player and would be a perfect replacement for Andy Reid should he leave the Reds.

Kennedy has been promoted with his last two clubs, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City, and has both Premiership and Nationwide Division One experience.

Forest were actually in the hunt for Kennedy's signature before his £1m switch to Liverpool but he failed to make the grade at Anfield.

Kennedy celebrates his 28th birthday on Saturday but will it be in a Forest shirt?

Forest boss Joe Kinnear would have to pay around £600,000 to seal the deal which only looks likely should Andy Reid be sold to one of his many admirers:

- Spurs had a £5m plus Rohan Ricketts bid turned down in January.

- Alan Curbishley has watched him a number of times this season including when he scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road.

- Blackburn are still lining-up a replacement for Damien Duff and will be looking to strengthen following a disappointing campaign.

and finally, Newcastle could join the race when Laurent Robert leaves this summer leading the way for Reid to link-up with former Forest team-mate Jermaine Jenas at St. James' Park.

An exciting summer lies ahead for Reds fans on Trentside.
