Asked in an interview for the League Managers' Association website what his feelings were about the upturn that has taken place at the City Ground since his departure, Megson said: “Really pleased because I think it vindicates everything that I was saying and what I did.
"The team itself is exactly the same team, the players are all the ones that I brought in and really the only difference is that I'm not there.
"I would imagine the atmosphere around the ground has changed and hence they've now got the team and the results that I'd hoped we could get whilst I was there.”
He added: "When I went to Forest I felt it was like a holiday camp and it needed to change and it needed to change very quickly, I needed discipline, I needed punctuality and was very hard on the players to try and get it back on an even keel.
"I think then that the results weren't brilliant, the atmosphere amongst the crowd caused us problems, the players weren't capable of playing in amongst that atmosphere, then the results and it was just a vicious circle."
