Millwall Strike Late to Sink Forest

Last updated : 31 January 2015 By Forest

Struggling Millwall came to the City Ground on the back of a solid rearguard action at Reading in midweek and once again proved difficult to break down with new signing Jos Hooiveld impressive in the heart of the visitors defence.

Stuart Pearce threw Matty Fryatt into the fray on the hour mark but, as frustrations grew among the majority of the 23,018 crowd, veteran forward Ricardo Fuller scored the crucial opening goal with seven minutes remaining.

Millwall remain in the bottom three but, although Forest are still in the top-half of the division, the gap between the two sides is only seven points.

Match Reaction: Under pressure Pearce told the official club website after the game that his side never managed to take the game by the 'scruff of the neck.'

"Over 90 minutes we didn’t get on top of the opposition. We’ve failed to do that on occasions and today was really symptomatic of that."
