The two sides last met just after Christmas in 2008 with Nottingham Forest coming out on top in a five-goal thriller.

For Norwich, defender Michael Nelson suffered ligament damage during the League Cup clash with Blackburn in midweek, leaving boss Paul Lambert looking for reinforcements at the back.

“We will try and get somebody in and hopefully Michael will be back sooner or later," said the highly-rated Scottish boss, who guided the Canaries back into the Championship last season after leaving Colchester.

***Update***Lambert has completed the signing of central defender Leon Barnett from West Brom in time for the weekend fixture.

He told the club's website: "He's a quality player who has played Premier League football as well as having solid experience at Championship level.

"So I'm delighted we've been able to bring him in."
