Nottm Forest V Hartlepool at The City Ground - Match Preview

Davies to shuffle his pack

Boss Billy Davies is expected to make changes for Nottingham Forest's Capital One Cup tie against Hartlepool at the City Ground.

The likes of winger Jamie Paterson and strikers Ishmael Miller and Darius Henderson, who all came off the bench on Saturday as the Reds began their Championship campaign with a 1-0 home win over Huddersfield, will be pushing for places in the starting line-up.

Summer signing Dorus De Vries could make his debut in goal and get the opportunity to impress against the League Two side, who are managed by former Forest defender Colin Cooper.

Defender Gonzalo Jara Reyes is still recovering from a knee injury sustained last season while midfielder Djamel Abdoun, a recent arrival from Greek club Olympiakos, is still not match fit.

Hartlepool pair Steve Howard and Simon Walton are among those hoping to make their first starts of the season.

Striker Howard and midfielder Walton began Saturday's defeat at Rochdale on the substitutes' bench - the former went on for the last 20 minutes - but Cooper has hinted at "a couple of changes".

Cooper, who has no new injury or suspension worries, could also hand starts to strikers Luke James and James Poole, while teenage midfielder Jordan Richards and goalkeeper Andy Rafferty will also be hoping to feature.

Forward Zak Boagey missed the opening-day defeat due to a groin strain and could be included in Cooper's squad.
