Despite being as a crucial game for both sides, Coventry were on top for much of the contest and effectively settled the game with two first-half goals to leave Forest in desperate trouble at the foot of the table.

Adams said afterwards: "I was delighted with the effort and the honesty of the players.

"They showed no real nerves at all and I thought that defensively we had just one save to make and that tells you we are defending well.

"We caused them problems in all areas but it is one game of football and I will not shout from the rooftops. We allowed them very little time and space and in the first half their system suited us."
