Pompey boss aiming high

Portsmouth can expect a rapturous welcome from the Fratton Park faithful for Saturday's game against Nottingham Forest, a fixture which looked in doubt last week when the club issued a bleak statement about its future.

That threat has now been lifted however and Cotterill can set about adding to his squad and pushing on from mid-table, where Pompey lie after an excellent run of form saw them move away from the foot of the Championship.

'We want to try and get in the top six – that's where we want to be," he told local newspaper The News.

'That's where our aims are, the top six.

'If we can get some bodies to supplement some of the good ones we've got, because fatigue is a problem."
