Reid earns Bowyer praise

The 21-year-old, who was subject of a £2.5m bid from Spurs early last month, will remain a Forest player after Monday's transfer deadline passed at 5pm.

Bowyer told Nationwide football: "He's professional enough to understand he has lots of time to develop and he may go on to be a Premiership player, but I can assure you from Andy Reid's point of view he'll continue in the same vein and give 100 per cent for this football club.

"He's Premiership class right now, but he will get better because he's only 21 years of age and with experience and knowledge he'll become a more rounded player.

"But he's still at Forest, he's happy to be at Forest, he's one of the brightest ones in the dressing room and he's been absolutely top class."

Praise indeed for a player who was told a couple of years ago to shape-up or get out after turning up to pre-season overweight.

Reidy has been one of few shining lights in a season that has generally disappointed so far. Lets hope his Irish trickery and magic can catapult The Reds back up the First Division.
