The Scot was delighted with the reaction he received from supporters and also praised his players for their 'effort and application' against a side he believes are promotion material.

"Bolton are a good side, who should probably be top two, but I'm sure they would accept they got away with murder today."

Opposite number Dougie Freedman was equally complimentary about Forest and knew that the return of Davies would create an atmosphere that caused problems for his side.

"Billy knows what he is doing and although expectations are high, there are a lot of clubs capable of getting into the play-offs and Forest are one of them."
