Wanted Men Start But Transfer Deadline Still Looms Large For Forest

With home games against Rotherham United and Charlton Athletic to come in the Championship, the Scot will be keen for his side to get off the mark for the season after Friday night's narrow defeat at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion.

Freedman was pleased with Forest's response to going a goal down at the Amex Stadium and the visitors showed more of a cutting edge in the second half, especially following the introduction of Tyler Walker to proceedings.

But the loss of Robert Tesche to injury have stretched resources even further and the manager's mobile phone will be almost permanently in use until the end of August as he attempts to bring new players to the City Ground.

That, of course, is in tandem with trying to keep his star men at the club. Michail Antonio and Henri Lansbury both started at Brighton but will continue to be linked with an exit right up until the closure of the transfer window.

It may have become another date in the calendar of English football, as Sky Sports News broadcasts a day of breathless speculation, but having the window open after the beginning of the season means more uncertainty for Freedman and Forest.
