A former Nottingham Forest player and coach, 52-year-old Wigley worked alongside incoming manager Stuart Pearce with the England Under-21 side.
He has left his role as Fulham's Under-18 manager with Craven Cottage academy director Huw Jennings saying: 'he has received an offer in football that he felt compelled to accept.'
