Burnley Buoyant Ahead Of Cup Clash

Last updated : 23 September 2013 By Forest

The all-Championship affair sees two teams in good spirits after registering some good results following the international break.

While the Reds were battling back to claim draws against Middlesbrough and Doncaster Rovers, Burnley were beating Birmingham City and Leeds.

“The players are giving everything for the Burnley shirt, and I think that’s invaluable,” said manager Sean Dyche after the victory at Elland Road.

Billy Davies has completely changed his side for the two previous League Cup fixtures but Dyche named something close to his regular XI for the local derby against Preston in Round 2.

He has since added Stoke City winger Michael Kightly to the Burnley squad on a season-long loan deal.

The game is the 99th meeting between the two sides. Check out the head-to-head record of the clubs by clicking below.
