Canadian full-back Jim Brennan joined Southampton on a free transfer from Norwich late last week.

The 28-year-old, who left Forest in 2003, signed for the Saints until the end of the season after finding first-team chances hard to come by at Carrow Road.

Nigel Quashie completed a last-minute move to West Brom from Southampton despite interest from Glasgow Rangers.

Cardiff meanwhile made a free transfer move for Riccardo Scimeca after he fell out of favour at West Brom.

Jason Lee also made a free transfer switch, to Northampton from Boston United.

Scott Gemmill is looking to revive his career with Sheffield Wednesday.

The veteran midfielder has been without a club since leaving Leicester in the summer and is training with the Owls in a bid to win a contract.

And in Holland, Pierre Van Hooijdonk, now 36-years-old, made a surprise return to Feyenoord after leaving NAC Breda on a free transfer.
