Froch promises fireworks

“We haven’t had much to cheer about recently with Forest being relegated, but I am going to change all that,” said Froch.

“I am going to bring the glory days back to the City.”

Froch added: “I am too young to remember when Forest did back to back European Cups with Cloughie in his green jumper, but I still know a lot about it.

“That’s because the people who were around at the time still reminisce about those days. This place appreciates success; we have some of the best fans in the world.

“I want to make history like that. I want to create the same kind of buzz there was back then and win a place in the hearts of the people by giving them what they deserve.

“I have gone part way towards that by winning English, British and Commonwealth titles, but there is so much more to come, starting with Barney.”

“Some people reckon that I am going to struggle against him because of his elusive style.

“Not a chance. He is going to have to fight in order to survive because I am going to jump on him from the off. He won’t know whats hit him.

“He has been mouthing off about me for two years; he has made it personal. Now he is going to see what I am really all about.

“I am going to do a job on Matthew Barney like no other fighter has done before and give this City something to shout about.

“I can’t wait for my hometown fans to lift the roof off of the Arena, it’s going to be a sensational night.”

The undefeated ‘Cobra,’ who last time out stopped the world ranked Henry Porras in Hollywood, continued: “Then I will be looking at getting back out to America and representing Nottingham again on the world stage.

“That is where I am going to have to do the business to achieve anything like what Cloughie did.

“Beating the world’s best has always been my game-plan. I am going to unify the super middleweight division and bring the titles home for my fans.”

Froch’s showdown with Barney co-headlines the Hennessy Sports ‘Trailblazers’ event with Junior Witter’s mandatory defence of his European title against mandatory contender Andreas Kotelnik of the Ukraine.
