Jepson resigned after the 3-0 defeat by Southend at the weekend made it five losses in six games.

Chairman Paul Scally told Sky Sports News: "A change was necessary and it was in the best interests of the club that he resigned."

Jepson follows Neil McDonald, axed by Carlisle after one game of the current campaign.
