Ipswich Next For Reds

The Suffolk side have endured an awful season to date with some heavy away defeats and the exit of manager Paul Jewell as they battle against relegation.

Mick McCarthy, strongly linked with the Reds job over the summer, is now in charge and saw some signs of improvement in a 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Peterborough United at the weekend.

“We didn’t play well in the first half," he admitted afterwards.

"We couldn’t pass it our own team mates, but the performance towards the end of the half gave me encouragement.

“I could see us getting better, thankfully we improved in the second half, we showed a bit of intensity and I think we deserved a point that’s for sure.”

Experienced midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker will miss out for the home side after suffering a hamstring problem against Posh. Youngster Luke Hyam takes his place.
