Kinnear hits back at Megson claims

Megson said after the weekend defeat to QPR that Forest would still be in the Championship if he had been in charge for the whole season while repeating his earlier accusations that he had inherited player's whose fitness levels were not up to scratch.

Kinnear though has reacted angrily today and is quoted in the Mirror as saying: "When Megson took over he had 23 games to go, which is plenty of time to keep them up.

"All he does is whinge and what has he ever done in the game? He's been accusing the players of being in woeful condition. The question I ask is what's Gary Megson done since he's been there?

"The players he's signed like Andy Melville is 37. What sort of fitness is a player of 37 going to have?

"There's Darryl Powell as well. He's a local lad who has just come back from America, but I was letting him train at the club as a favour.

"I told him he would never get a contract at the club. Megson's come in and given him a two-year deal - it's laughable."
