The 18-year-old, who has been watched by a clutch of Premier League clubs while playing for the Under-19s and reserves this season, has recently been promoted to Billy Davies` first-team squad.
Lascelles is unlikely to make his debut before the end of the season but it is hoped he will challenge for a place in the full squad within the next 12 months.
He made his debut for the England Under-19s as they lost 3-0 to Holland in Amsterdam on Tuesday night.
