Megson: Players were superb

Kris Commons missed a second-half penalty to leave Forest four points away from safety and with a home game against Wigan to come on Saturday.

Despite that though the Forest boss was delighted with the showing of a side that had been hit by illness and injury.

"I feel disappointed for the players not disappointed in them," said Megson afterwards.

"Considering the problems we had I thought the players responded superbly and should have won the game. They certainly deserved all three points.

"The commitment and application was of such a high standard that had we produced the same level all season we might not be second in the table but we certainly wouldn't be second from bottom."
