Merson keen on Forest chances

Forest are the clear favourites with the bookmakers to win the division and Merson feels that in Gary Megson they have a key asset.

''In this league everybody beats everybody,'' Merson told Sky Sports News.

''The team that's bottom can give the team at the top a game on their day. That way it's hard.

''There are some good teams. Forest came down and have probably got the best manager in the league.

''That's going to help and they've probably one of the best coaches in the league who I had here in Frank (Burrows).

''I like them and my dark horses are Oldham. They've bought some good players and there will be a couple of good teams who weren't around last year.''

Meanwhile Forest's bid for Cardiff defender Chris Barker has been rejected and former City Ground man Andy Impey is training with Coventry City in a bid to earn a deal with Micky Adams' side.
