Coppell's side boosted their play-off hopes with a 1-0 win thanks to James Harper's second-half goal, minutes after Forest keeper Paul Gerrard had been sent off for handball.

The Reading boss said afterwards: "I saw them play at Coventry and I knew they would make it hard for us to score.

"When it was 0-0 at half-time it was no surprise and it was exactly what I thought might happen.

"They played a 5-3-2 formation and, with Commons dropping back at times, that even became a 5-4-1."
