The former City Ground loanee made his debut for Gordon Strachan's side at Crystal Palace last week after making a temporary switch from Aston Villa.
With his contract expiring in the summer, the midfielder is keen to make an impression while in the North East and help 'Boro get their promotion campaign back on track.
"I feel that I am 90% there as far as match fitness is concerned," he told the Evening Gazette.
"Now I can't wait to play at the Riverside for the first time."
