"I find him very similar to Brian Clough."
Clough of course famously missed out on the England job despite being the people's choice but Pearce believes Capello has many similar qualities.
He added: "I worked with Brian and he scared the life out of me. You were on your toes all the time.
"I get the same impression working with this fella. He doesn't want to talk for hours about this and that rubbish.
"He just wants to get on with the job. You know straight away that he's a serious performer and he gains immediate respect for that."
