"I'm out of contract at Forest in the summer," the 34-year-old, who has already had two spells with Gillingham, told BBC Radio Kent.
"Hopefully I'll sign a new deal there, but my family's moving back down to Kent after Christmas as we love the area and we're going to settle here.
"My three children were born in Gillingham, so the place has a lot of fond memories for me."
