The model of a head coach, working alongside a director of football, was one that Forest looked to have been working towards all summer and they now have their men in place.

Montanier will take charge of first-team affairs, working with Pedro Pereira in what represents a new direction for the club.

BBC Radio Nottingham's Robin Chipperfield commented:

"If they can forge a strong partnership, and their views on the style of football, and potential new signings dovetail, then a prosperous future is more likely.

"The success achieved by Watford and Sheffield Wednesday under Slavisa Jokanovic and Carlos Carvalhal respectively have to be the models for Forest to follow."
