The possibility of loan signings from the Premier League, whether from Aston Villa or elsewhere is also on the cards as Davies strengthens ties with top-flight clubs.
"I played a trialist in the game yesterday, which is tough to do in the reserve league," he said, quoted in the Evening Post.
"And Villa will have a lot of fringe players playing in the games we play, who we might be able to look at.
"I am not saying we are going to sign anyone from Villa, but when you have these games it gives you an opportunity to have a look and to talk to opposition managers face-to-face."
