The 31-year-old has, temporarily at least ended his long association with Doncaster Rovers where he has played since 2004, notching up over 300 appearances and of course playing under current Nottingham Forest boss Sean O’Driscoll.

Rovers boss Dean Saunders his the club's official website: "I didn't want to lose Copps but these sorts of things happen in football - we have to move on.

"I will continue to plan for the game at Yeovil Town and will not allow it to detract from the way we play."

Making the opposite move meanwhile from the Championship to League One is striker David McGoldrick who has joined Coventry City until the new year and been replaced in the striking ranks by another former Doncaster man in the shape of Billy Sharp.

The 26-year-old has been squeezed out of the picture at Southampton over the summer despite playing a key role in the Saints’ promotion last season. He will spend the remainder of the 2012/13 season in Nottingham.
