The 20-year-old, who joined for a nominal fee from fellow First Division side Wigan Athletic, has an excellent reputation but has failed to break into Paul Hart's first-team ahead of Darren Ward and Barry Roche.

Mick Jones told the Shropshire Star: "Scott will be with us for a month initially and we'll have a chance to see whether he is the answer for us.

"I have seen Scott play a few times in the past couple of years and have always been impressed."

Meanwhile, Forest striker David Johnson won't be rushed back into first-team action following his double leg break earlier in the season against Sheffield United.

Johnson fractured both his tibia and fibula after a left-footed strike back in September.

Paul Hart said: "It's difficult to put a precise timetable on when he'll be back because everyone heals differently and so for that reason it's going to be David's decision as to when he comes back fully fit."

The 27-year-old was Forest's top scorer last season.
