Would 'Boro target do a job for Forest?

With Nottingham Forest Billy Davies confirming on Thursday that he is still looking to strengthen his squad, the left-back position is thought to be an area he wants to add competition for places to.

Versatile Griffin is on the fringes of the Stoke City side at present and is being linked with a move to Middlesbrough, where Gordon Strachan has just taken over as manager.

"I would be interested in going out loan, as long as it's commutable every day and I can see my two boys, my little girl, and my wife every day," the 30-year-old told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I've come to a point in my life when my family is more important than playing a little bit of football."

Davies is well aware of Griffon's capabilities, having signed him as Derby County manager after their promotion to the Premier League in 2007.
